5 Things I Like About Being a Working Mom | Not Just 9 to 5

5 Things I Like About Being a Working Mom

October 27, 2009

working_20women_smallMost days, I won’t lie, I don’t mind that I work outside the home.  Here are 5 things (in no particular order) that I like about working outside the home full time.

1.  Lunch time to myself.  All I have to worry about is getting myself fed.  I can also run errands by myself and get them done quicker.

2.  Being around other adults all day.  I admit that I love the interaction.

3.  A sense of accomplishment.  I love how it feels when I solve a problem at work or get a compliment from someone.

4.  A sort of sense of security knowing that if something happened to my husband and I was a single mom, I already have a source of income apart from him.

5.  The greetings that I get from my girls at the end of the day when I pick them up.

Like I said, these are just random things I like.  I in no way believe that my way is the only way – everyone has to do what works for their family.  And, stay tuned, because next week you will see 5 things I DON’T like about being a working mom.

Thank you for writing what I’ve felt inside but have also felt too guilty to ever admit. I also like that working outside the home is the best legit reason to dress nice and have great clothes, shoes & accessories.

Looking forward to reading the 5 things you don’t like. Wonder if they’re the same as mine. I want the best of both worlds.
