A Million Reasons to "Believe" With Macy's and a Giveaway

TREK_V-sending_300dpi

This year, Macy’s is adding to the spirit of “Believe” with a national Santa Tour, an honorary National Believe Day, a “Yes, Virginia” animated special, and a new TV commercial featuring Queen Latifah.

The nostalgic holiday campaign was inspired by the New York Sun’s famous “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus” editorial from 1897 and includes letter-writing “Believe Stations” in Macy’s stores across the country.  For each letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, up to $1 million.  You can check out more details here.

You can also check out Macy’s on Facebook and Twitter.

Strawberry Shortcake Berry Cafe – A Review

strawberry shortcakeI love that Strawberry Shortcake has become popular again for kids to play with.  I played with it as a kid and I love that my girls are now showing interest in Strawberry Shortcake.  That is why I jumped at the chance to review the Strawberry Shortcake Berry Cafe.

Here’s a little bit about the toy.  It’s where Strawberry Shortcake and her friends can gather for “snacks”, “smoothies”, and fun! Shaped like a strawberry with opening doors and windows, the two-story cafe also features Strawberry Shortcake’s bedroom and includes a three-inch sweet smelling Strawberry Shortcake mini doll with removable fashion. The Strawberry Shortcake Berry Cafe playset comes complete with adorable accessories including furniture, pretend food, a spinning smoothie machine, a “flying” bird that Strawberry Shortcake or her friends can ride, and more.

When I first opened this toy, my girls (who are 4 and 3) were so excited.  We opened it right away for them and they played with it until they went to bed.  They loved the spinning smoothie machine and the bird ride on top for the doll.

I thought that this toy was great.  My daughters could “play” store or “cafe”, I guess you would call it and then take Strawberry Shortcake “upstairs” to her home.  I loved that the mini Strawberry Shortcake doll smelled like strawberries.  It reminded me of the dolls I would play with as a little girl.

The only drawback I saw with this toy is all the little pieces.  They are hard for little girls to keep track of and if you have any younger children around that put things in their mouth this can be a choking hazard.  I will also say to keep the sweet smelling doll away from dogs that like to chew.  Just a tip.  :-)

Here’s a video I took of the girls telling me about this new great toy.

Random Tuesday – Yay it's a short week!!

randomtuesday

I would like to start out by saying how thankful I am that this is a short week at work.  Although, why do short weeks seem to take longer than a regular week???

I am also thankful that all of our family lives around here so we will be doing no traveling this holiday weekend.  Yay!

Watch for some great reviews and giveaways coming up.  After sort of taking a break from doing them, I am back in the game.

Last night, while watching the Houston Texans/Tennessee Titans game, I was very disturbed that Kerry Collins was out as the Titan’s starting quarter back.  After doing some research, I discovered he got the boot after they started the season at 0-6.  Ok, I get it, but how does a team that rocked last year and a quarter back that could do no wrong go downhill so fast?  Oh well.

New puppy comes on Thursday probably.  It will be like having a newborn again.  Can’t wait….Really, I am excited to get her (Veda as she will be called), but would like it if they could keep her until she was maybe 4 or 5 months old (she is 7 weeks now) and do the hard stuff with her (like potty training).

Tonight is our town’s holiday parade.  It’s one of the biggest in the area and so much fun.  It’s our family tradition to go.  It’s supposed to rain though.  I am not standing in the rain.  Bummer.

Well, I think that’s enough randomness for one morning.  Have a great Tuesday!
