This random Tuesday is going to be a sad one. Today I have to go the the funeral for my aunt that passed away very unexpectedly last Wednesday. She was 74 and had some health issues, but no one expected this. So….This random Tuesday is going to be a tribute to her. I am going to share random memories and facts about my Aunt D. (We didn’t really call her that, just not going to use her real name.)
Aunt D was my mom’s older sister. She lived about 1.5 hours south of us. We would go visit there all the time, especially after my parents’ divorce.
She was a strong and independent woman. My uncle that passed away 3 years ago had polio and was in a wheel chair. My aunt took care of him and their family.
When I went to college by her, she would send my uncle to pick me up on the weekends. She would then take care of me all weekend by taking me out to dinner, shopping, etc. She was like my mom away from home.
I could ALWAYS count on her for a birthday card for me and my two girls.
Our families would always go to a cottage on a lake for a week in the summer. I loved it!
In all honestly, I can’t believe she is gone. Since she does live far away, I didn’t see her often anyway, so I don’t think it’s hit me and it won’t until I go to her funeral today.
I love you Aunt D and will miss you. Thanks for all the special memories!!!
Sorry to be a downer today, but for more Random Tuesday, head on over to The Un Mom.
