About the PETCO Foundation
Our mission is to raise the quality of life for pets and the people who love and need them by creating responsible pet owners, reducing the number of animals euthanized, rescuing animals in crisis and rehabilitating behavioral issues in pets. Since it was established in 1999, the foundation has helped save the lives of more than 2 million companion animals and donated more than $50 million to help the cause of companion animals. You can make a difference for animals in your community and beyond.

The PETCO Foundation has strived for ten years and will continue to work on the following:
Think Adoption First! We urge people to adopt rather than purchase a companion animal saving 200,000 companion animals in 2008 alone by placing them in loving forever homes. Through in-store adoption events and our “We are Family Too” Fund designed to help families in financial need keep their companion animals we are able to make a difference in pets lives and bring families together.
Directly Funding 5,700 Local Animal- Welfare Groups! Raising over $50 million dollars to date the Foundation donates more than 75% of the funds directly to local community and regional animal welfare efforts, while the remainder supports various disaster relief and other national animal welfare causes and programs.
Knowledge of Animal Welfare Community. The PETCO Foundation diligently works to direct donations through grants to the animal welfare organizations that need and know how to most effectively use your financial support. Each dollar raised by the Foundation has the assurance that it will be used as effectively as possible in your community and across the country. Charity Navigator, the largest independent evaluator of non-profits has awarded the PETCO Foundation its highest 4 star achievement rating for 4 consecutive years.
