It’s not often you will catch me watching a “chick flick”. Give me a movie like the “A-Team” or “The Hangover” any day. I do have a few favorites though and some that still get to me even though I have seen them a million times.
Steel Magnolias is one of those movies. I absolutely love the cast and I think that it’s one of Julia Roberts best movies. Her sweet southern accent is just too cute and the relationship she has with her mom (Sally Field) is one that every girl dreams of.
I have seen this movie about 50 times. I don’t want to give anything away if you haven’t seen it yet, but I cry every.time. And as I get older, it gets worse. I don’t know if I am more emotional as I get older, or now that I am a mother, I can’t imagine going through what happens.
I love this movie and it’s one that I will watch over and over again, but I always make sure to have my box of tissue close by.

I saw this so long ago …. perhaps I’m due for a revisit. I love a good cry during a movie for some reason.

My friends and I were very similar to the four friends in the movie. We even had our own Weezer. I cry during the cemetery scene EVERY time.

One of the best movies ever made. I quote it all the time…probably too much! Sometimes I still cry when I see it but I will never forget seeing it in the theater for the first time way back in 1989. “Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion!” I never even realized how true that was until I heard Truvy say it up on the big screen!
That’s on my list too….every time. Every time! Of course it makes me laugh too…that’s why I love that movie!

I will watch it every time it’s on. Every. Time. Whether it’s the beginning, the middle, or nearing the end. I just have to. And I agree, I’ve cried harder the older I’ve gotten, whether it’s from just age or motherhood. This is one of the absolute best written movies which so perfectly shows motherhood, the mother/daughter bond, and friendship. One of my favorite things to say to profess my love to someone is how I love them more than my luggage.

I wrote about the same movie (although I stupidly gave away the ending) but still…I love it for the same reason you do!

I’ve only seen it once, I should probably re-watch it again soon.

Now you made me want to see this! I never saw this movie but see a lot of people like it. Stopping by from writers workshop; I did this prompt too!
