Priorities

Everything I do is for those two girls.

They are my number 1 priority.  When things get hard, I think of them and that gets me through.  All I want is their happiness and safety.

I think I lost sight of that a bit the past few years.  But now my vision is clear again.  They are the most important thing in my life.

And then there is this guy – my wonderful husband.  He’s stuck by me through thick and thin.  I am so blessed to have him in my life.  I never want to take him for granted again.

In all that I do, I think of my family.  They are my number one priority.

A Real Tree

The doorbell rang. Lizzie set her laptop down on the couch and peeked out the window. She smiled and felt her heart swell when she saw Todd standing there.

Lizzie opened the door and Todd grabbed her for a long kiss.

“Hi there,” he smiled down at her as he held her close.

“Hi.” She felt her knees tremble at his touch. It amazed her the way her body reacted when Todd was around.

Todd let Lizzie over to sit on the couch. “Are you busy?”

“Nothing that can’t wait.” Lizzie leaned in and kissed him again.

“Mmmmm….Keep that up and you will ruin the plans that I have for us,” Todd whispered as he stroked her curls. He loved to touch her hair.

“What plans?” Lizzie snuggled next to him on the couch.

“Well, this is our first Christmas together – the first of many, I might add. I want to celebrate it right. I was thinking we could go pick out a tree to put up here at your place.”

“But I have a tree.”

“No, silly, I want a real tree. I always had one growing up and I want to start that tradition with you.” Todd kissed her forehead.

Lizzie felt the butterflies flutter in her stomach. She had never been one to make a big fuss about the holidays. She just always thought they were more for kids. Now that Todd was in her life, and her future, she could feel herself get a little bit more excited for Christmas.

Lizzie nodded. “Ok. Let’s go pick one out.”

She got up off the couch and put on her shoes. Todd helped her put on her winter jacket. She slipped on her mittens. “Ok, let’s go!”

Todd kissed her nose and outside, the snow began to fall.
