life rearranged

The morning after

Sebastian woke up and stretched.  He glanced over and saw Lizzie still sleeping next to him.  She looked so peaceful there and he was careful not to wake her.

The sunlight glistened off of her auburn curls sprawled across his pillow.  He touched a strand, remembering how his hands felt tangled in her thick hair as he kissed her the night before.

Sebastian couldn’t believe he had met Lizzie just the day before.  Could he really already be falling for this auburn-haired beauty in his bed?

Lizzie stirred and opened her eyes.  It took her a minute for her to realize that she was in Sebastian’s bed.  He was lying there next to her stroking her hair.

“Good morning, sexy.”

She smiled and stretched.  “Good morning.”

“How’s your head?”

“Surprisingly, not bad.  Yours?”

“Yeah, not too bad either.  Thirsty though.  I’ll get some water.”

Lizzie watched Sebastian slip out of bed and walk to what she assumed was the kitchen.  She sat up in bed, wrapping the sheet around her.  She couldn’t believe she had just spent the night with him.  And after just meeting him the day before!  Something felt so right though and she was sure he felt it too.

Sebastian came back to the bedroom with two glasses of cold water.  He handed one to Lizzie and she took a drink.  She downed it all and handed the glass to him.

“Much better!!”

Sebastian chuckled. Damn, she looked sexy naked in his bed with her wild curls framing her face.  He set the glasses down and touched her cheek.

“Do you have to be anywhere any time soon?”

Lizzie took a deep breath.  “Nope, that’s the life of a freelance writer.  I make my own schedule.”

Sebastian grinned and kissed her neck.  “Good…”

Sierra….A dog only we can love

Sierra is the first dog that I have ever really owned.

My husband had a husky/shepherd mix named Sammy that I just fell in love with. She was a great dog, but ultimately, she was my husband’s.  She had a bad knee and a bad hip and we were positive that we were going to have to put her down soon.

In order to ease the transition for us, we decided to get another dog.  We wanted a German Shepherd, but they were so expensive.  We found an ad for Siberian Huskies for half the price.  We both thought that they were pretty dogs so we decided to call about her.  They told us that she had one blue eye and we thought, “Cool!!”

We drove about 30 minutes to pick her up.  She was so cute and looked so fuzzy.  It was not hard to convince us to take her.  I remember the drive home distinctly.  She was so scared and all I kept thinking was that she was going to pee or poop all over my lap.

We named her Sierra because we had the dog Sammy and my cat Sneakers.  We decided we needed another “S” name and Sierra was the best we could come up with.

She was a terrible puppy.  We kennel trained her and she would whine and whine and whine in there all night.  We had to put the kennel outside our bedroom door so she could see us.  When we were gone, she would pee all over her kennel.  And she would pee and poop all over the house.  She took forever to train.

Sierra is my husband’s dog through and through.  She is happiest lying next to his chair at night.  When he is outside, she whines and runs from window to window to see him.  She is a nervous wreck.  She hates the wet grass and will not go to the bathroom until she is ready to burst because she hates the feel of the grass on her paws.

She is almost 11 years old now.  She has finally relaxed.  When my husband and I were separated earlier this year, I missed her the most.  She is my baby.  We joke though that with her nervous personality, she is a dog that only we can love.
