I enjoy writing. There is nothing like getting my thoughts down on the screen, or sharing something that you know will help others, or even just making people smile. I have even had just a little bit of my writing published. There is nothing more exciting to a writer than seeing your name in print.
Lately though, I am stuck. I have a few ideas, but I seem to have trouble making myself actually write them down. I could say that I am busy with my full time job and the girls and running a home, but that would be a load of crap really.
I have a friend that I met in a writing class I took a year ago. To be honest, right now, she is my writing hero. Her name is Sarah. This is her blog. A lot of us from that writing class meet up once a month to chat – share successes, struggles, etc. She told us that she has a writing contract with a friend to write 45 minutes a day every week. What a good idea! To keep writing, I think you need to do it every day (or almost every day), and her commitment is inspiring.
My passion is fiction. I had a blog post in my inbox this morning from a writer I enjoy and she lists all her projects. Besides writing, she works full time and has a family. Her post must have listed 6 projects she has going on – and those are books!! I was in awe.
Here’s the thing: I know what I am doing and not doing. If you want to do something bad enough, you MAKE time. Even if you are struggling with an idea to write about, get it out – just get the words out. That’s what editing is for.
It’s Monday morning at 6:00. Instead of hitting snooze 5 times this morning, I got up and to write. Quite honestly, I stared at the screen for awhile and then perused some blogs TRYING to get inspired. I have such trouble starting things. So I decided to write about how I can’t figure out what to write about. And it feels good to dump my brain here.
